The classic Souther Rhone Blend and major players in Spain, Garnacha and Monastrell; Grenache and Mourvedre each bring their own distinct notes.

Cannonau if you're Italian, Garnacha if you're Spanish, Grenache if you're French...a rose by any other name would smell as sweet...

Mourvedre, otherwise known as Monastrell, is a dark skinned, heat loving high quality grape known for its structured contribution to blends.  The French have nicknamed it estrangle-chien or "dog strangler" due to its fierce tannins.
